Oats Dal Dahi Vada – Healthy & Low-Calorie Snack


Ingredients: Oats Dal Dahi Vada – Healthy & Low-Calorie Snack

2 tbsp roasted and powdered oats
1/2 cup urad dal (split black lentils)
1/4 cup split moong dal (split green gram)
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp oil for greasing
Salt to taste

To be mixed together with the curd:

1 and 1/4 cups low-fat curd
Salt to taste
Other ingredients:
2 and 1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera) powder
2 and 1/2 tsp chilli powder

1. Soak urad and moong dal overnight in water. Drain the water in morning and grind them to a fine paste. Do not add water but if it is too thick then add little water. Keep aside to ferment for 3 to 4 hours.
2. Add the powdered oats, salt and baking powder and mix well.
3. You can steam the mix in idli steamer and steam for 15-20 minutes until it become fluffy and cooked well or deep fry them to make medium sized balls in hot oil until golden brown.
4. Soak the vadas in enough water in a deep bowl for 20 minutes. Thereafter, squeeze out all the water from each vada by pressing them in between your palms. Keep aside.
5. Mix curd, salt, jeera powder and red chili powder.6. Pour the curd mix over the bhalla’s and serve immediately.
7. You can garnish the Oats Dahi Bhalla with green chutney and tamarind chutney to enhance the taste.
